Overheard in the dpreview forums

While we wait for the Panasonic announcements, here are some other items that might be of interest:

  • The latest newsletter from Phil and dpreview has been posted and emailed
  • Great tip for those wearing eye glasses!. They use an Orion rubber eyepiece, originally used for telescopes thus shutting out all ambient light. Check the thread in the link for more details!
  • Which sub-$1500 DSLR has the lowest noise?
  • Would you buy the mythical Canon 18-200 lens?
  • What's the future of the Nikon DX lenses. On the other hand, this poster thinks this is the end of full frame
  • Weirdest picture of the year?
  • Compare and contrast the Canon 30D and the 40D. Except the Canon 40D does not officially exist.
  • And how about that Canon vs Nikon rivarly?
  • A human interest story.
  • Going from NEF to DNG? (NEF being Nikon's RAW format, and DNG being Adode's proposed standard RAW format)
  • The European Union continues to push for digital camera taxes. The European Commission apparently plans to introduce an additional import tax on digital cameras that output more than 720x576 pixels at at least 23fps for at least 30secs.
  • Here is the weekly macro, lots of pictures to see. And some flowers
