New hybrid digital camera the Sanyo Xacti DMX HD1000 (also coming to the USA)

  • It has a 1/2.5" CMOS sensor (yes CMOS), 10x optical zoom, H.264, full HD resolution for video, 4mp/8mp for still pictures, 2 hours of HD recording with the supplied battery, you can take 2mp pictures during/from full HD video recording, 120,000 yen when it goes on sale in mid-September. Sanyo wants to sell half a million of these, and had total sales of 1 million units during H1 of 2007

    Man, that has got to be the world's ugliest camera.

    It looks more like an electric razor or a flashlight.

    If the IQ was impressive I might think about it- but $800 seems a bit steep.

    LOL! I think it's the HD effect. If they say it has HD then they feel they can sell it for more. Plus not that many of them are being made. But yes, the price is probably double of what it should have been imho :)

    You are right, it reminded me of those flashlights are guaranteed for life (or 2 years whichever comes first!)
