Some disappointments here and here
Is it glass prism?
Would the absence of Live View hurt Sony A700 sales?. And a thorough discussion on Live View (and its absence)
A side by side of the Canon 40D, Nikon D300, and Sony A700. Side by side of the pictures that is, not a review :-) And another one
This forum user almost got it right a few hours before the "official" leak.
Speculations on the price

Here is a summary of the Sony-leaked Sony Alpha A700:
12mp Exmor CMOS sensor, 1.5x type
ISO 100-3200, boost to 6400
100K shutter, 1/8000 sec
Sensor-shift stabilization
Claims 2.5 to 4 stop improvement, which includes up to half a stop gained from a new shutter/mirror combo
Bionic engine (BIONZ) and dust bunnies protection
ADC and initial Noise Reduction happen on the sensor (first time)
5 fps (16 RAW, unlimited JPEG)
Eye-start AF is back
double-crossing AF (11 points and 11 lines)
40-segment honeycomb pattern metering
Two slots, one for the CompactFlashes and one for the MemorySticks. Nice! This is a must for any DSLR over $1000!
Pentaprism OVF (95%)
Has a pop-up flash, wireless flash support
Three user memories for all settings
3" LCD (sounds similar to the Nikons?)
New Info-LiIon M-series battery at 650 CIPA
Optional battery grip, model # VG-C70AM can use an extra battery, essentially doubling battery life
Remote control included
HDMI output
As you may recall from the leak of the Sony H3, T200 and T70, these camera also appeared ___accidentally____ on a Sony Style webpage. Accidentally of course :)
If the model name sounds familiar, do not confuse it with the Canon Powershot A700 or the Fuji Finepix A700
