Photography Soup (Sept 10, 2007)

Housekeeping

  • Just posted on Sunday was noisy review #4, of the latest issue of the USA edition of the magazine Digital Photographer (Miller). I want to assure our readers that this magazine was not a special review copy and it was not running any special firmware to make it look better for the review ;-)
  • New Blog Features: You may have noticed them creeping into the blog. On the top left corner there is a list of all new recent digital camera announcements starting with the Sony A700 and going back to the Panasonic FZ18, FX55 and FX33. The latest new feature is a one-paragraph "State of the Camera Nation" recap. This is located towards the top of the page, right below the page title and readable from every page in the blog. It is sort of like a non-ticking non-news non-ticker :)
  • Blogger will be undergoing maintenance tonight at 1am New York City time (EST), so you may experience a short outage of this and other blogger-hosted blogs.
  • Don't forget to vote in our Poll, the Nikon D3 has just barely pulled away but the Olympus E3 and the Nikon D300 are just behind it battling it out for the most exciting DSLR of the season
  • Sometime on Wednesday I will be posting yet another long speculation-only post. Speculation being one of the core areas of interest of this noisy blog. It may be a bit surprising at to the timing. I won't reveal more :)

    Around the Internets
  • More imaging and photography news than you can possible read at Imaging Insider. Pardon their dust while they are updating their servers. Among the stories spotlighted there: unlocking RAW in Canon non-DSLRs, new camera reviews such as the Canon 40D and Fuji Z100fd, ISO 25,600 from Nikon D3, news, press releases, how to tips, and lots more.
  • A Nikon D3 preview is coming up at dpreview, currently 50% complete, and then followed by a full review of the Canon 40D. Also the 1D Mk III review is underway but priorities have to be adjusted based on reader traffic and interest (a very logical thing to do!)
