Week in review and what's coming up?

Welcome to our weekly Sunday recap and look forward. In today's issue we look at the week that was, and what to look forward to during the next week.

Week In Review (reserve chronological order)

  • We extended our most exciting new DSLR poll until December 31, 2007. This partly because it's fun and partly because the Olympus E3 and potential Pentax DSLRs, or even the mythical Canon 5D Mark II November surprise have not been announced. You can find the poll lost somewhere in the left column jungle :)
  • Photography Soup editions: Saturday Oct 6, Friday Oct 5, Thursday Oct 4 with a spin-off dpreview forum digest, and Monday Oct 1.
  • We updated the 1001 noisy terms.
  • Finally we posted a long About 1001 Noisy Cameras describing this site and what features to expect on a regular basis.
  • DXO announces DXO version 5.
  • Another installment of the reader's choice feature The Charts.
  • The official announcement and the official Japanese announcement of the Pentax 18-250 DA lens, and Optio V10 and A40 digital cameras.
  • A blast from the past looking at the year 2001 in dpreview's Timeline.
  • Our sometimes-weekly faux-editiorial VIDI "What are we going to do without noise".
  • We introduced the first of what turned out to be many many blog changes with the newsletter subscription powered by Feedblitz and Feedburner.
  • And to round things up this is the weekly rewind of the previous week.
  • In the past week we had some major changes done to the blog, we switched to three columns, and added a number of widgets and trinkets and bling bling. Some of it is actually functional and practical :) We like to draw your attention to the newly added Top 10 most popular posts, BlogMap at the top of the page, the Recent Comments posts, RSS feeds from Imaging Insider and RAWsumer that are embedded in the blog, added Technorati tags showing the most frequent tags used here at 1001 Noisy, added lots of cutesy social bookmarking and RSS feed subscription buttons, removed some clutter from the blog, and more! Most of these can be found in the left column.

    Weekly Features
  • Photography Soup, Pho Soup Express, and Overheard in the dpreview forums, almost daily round-ups of items of interest.
  • New camera announcements and News from Japan as they happen (or shortly thereafter).
  • Reader's Choice feature The Charts looking at the best selling cameras at online/offline retailers.
  • A Blast from the Past looking at a moment or year in digital camera history.

  • Canon G9 review to be posted at DCresource soon
  • Olympus E3 to be announced on October 16/17, probably leaked earlier.
  • January 2008: CES 2008
  • Fall 2008: Photokina 2008
  • Fall 2009: Fauxtokina 2009
  • January 2040: A 30 megapixel full frame keychain thumb camera is announced ;-)

    No, silly....

It's a 40 megapixel full frame wristwatch camera.

With an 11-500mm zoom lens! LOL

I thought everybody knew that... ;-)

Ooops, I missed that one :-) LOL! I better start doing some wrist exercises to prepare for those big 400mm full frame lenses mounted on my wrist watch camera! :)

5 hours ago I got a Casio ex-z1080 in Greece.
Any (p)reviews? No impressions yet, I just started charging the batteries.

Congratulations on your EX-Z1080! It should be an interesting camera to look at, esp after the positive review of its predecessor, the EX-Z1050, at dcresource!
