Photography Soup (Friday, December 21, 2007)

In today's installment we take a spin around the photo-blogo-sphere, feature a local camera shop from the list, and introduce a new segment titled "Learn something new today".

Support the local camera shops initiative
Today's spotlight shines on the Lakeshore Camera Exchange, serving the whole Tampa Bay area in Florida. Lake Shore Camera Exchange is the Florida Suncoast's only Full Line Promaster store and a proud member of Independent Photo Imagers, a group of over 750 photo processors in North America providing excellence in photo processing and digital image output. For more local camera shops or to add your own store to the list, please visit the support your local camera store initiative page.

Learn something new today
Those not intimately familiar with the Pentax mount may be confused by the alphabet soup of K, KA, KAF, crippled KAF, KAF2, KF, and more. How can you sort them out? Simple, visit the very excellent Pentax K-Mount page by Bojidar Dimitrov for a brief yet detailed history of the K-mount. Visit and bookmark!

Never too late for this gift!

Amazon gift certificates are a great and fast way to send gifts. No need to fight off the Xmas rush at the malls and shopping centers. Furthermore, the people receiving them can get what they want, they don't have to go through the whole circus of "I love your gift", and then list it on eBay the next morning or re-gift it. The downside of course is that it has a dollar value attached to it, but with the advent of the internet, every "product" gift has a dollar value since you can easily "google" it to find its price.

Photography Soup Status: Live Update in Progress! This episode is now final! Expect a possible return of our "forum digest" feature this weekend. For those who are wondering why we haven't done many of those recently, it is because we only have 24 hours every day. The forum round-ups are very time-consuming features, so we are not able to do them as often as we would like.
