Alert: Special offer for the Nikon D200 by Cameta

Attention Shoppers! We have a blue light special for you if you are interested in the Nikon D200! Cameta Cameras on Amazon is offering a big D200 bundle which includes the Nikon 18-135mm DX lens, a 2gb Lexar CF (133x) card, an extra Nikon EN-EL3e battery, a Nikon-branded SLR Gadget Bag, a USB 2.0 high speed CF card reader, and a couple of other trinkets for $1620.

For more than 20 reviews of the Nikon D200, be sure to check our DSLR Review Matrix. Reviews of the D200 were published by Dpreview (Phil), Thom Hogan, IR, Bjorn of Natural Fotograf who recently posted his Nikon D3 review, and many others.

Who might be interested in this?

  • Why is this a bargain? The D200 with the 18-135DX alone goes for $1625 at Amazon, which is $5 more than the Cameta kit. So you get the extra battery, 2gb CF card, Nikon gadget bag and trinkets for a negative $5.
  • If you are interested in the D3 or the D300, you are obviously not interested in the Nikon D200 regardless of the price. Or are you?
  • If you already have the 18-135 DX and you don't have any use for an additional 18-135 DX lens, you are probably better off buying the D200 body only at around $1365 - unless you like trading or selling stuff online or offline.
  • If you have use for the extra accessories, then it's a great deal. Certainly an additional memory card and extra battery can be useful, the Nikon gadget bag if you need one or have multiple DSLR sets. The remaining trinkets (memory card case, usb reader, cleaning cloth) are nice to have, but they are not a reason to buy this kit. Obviously!
