Leaked? The Sony Alpha A200 DSLR?

What a great way to start the new year! With a new DSLR leak! We were just looking at the latest updates at the Imaging Insider and saw the mention of the A200. Then we looked around the net and found three busy dpreview threads in the Sony SLR Talk forum discussing this:

  • The Leak
  • further discussion
  • even more discussion
  • Two pictures shown in a page linked from this forum post from one of the above threads
  • Three pictures of the alleged A200 (leaked at Sony Luxemburg [allegedly]) at Israeli site d-spot.
  • Also from above, one forum user has unearthed what looks like ZA 24-70 f2.8 SSM (or did we know about that already? Oh I'm so confused now :)
  • More discussions will crop up so be sure to visit the Sony SLR Talk forum at dpreview for more as times goes by.
  • Also discussed at the Dyxum.com forum
  • Also at Fred Miranda (FM)
  • More at the Sony Alpha Flickr group.

From what I can see so far, it looks like it is a 12mp DSLR with Super Steady Shot (sensor-shift image stabilization), and 3" LCD. Although some are saying 10mp. Oh the confusion.

This is further complicated because the A700 was thought that it would have been named "A200" which makes digging around for information more complicated :)

UPDATE 1/6/2008: The Sony A200 has been officially announced with a 10mp CCD DX sensor, and going for $700 with the 18-70 DT lens included.
