The PDN Pulse blog points out to a Fuji press release for PMA 2008 that suggests that a new medium format retro folding rangefinder film SLR camera from Fuji will be announced, and perhaps shown even at the PMA 2008 trade show. Thanks to blog reader Shadow Leaves for the update and the correction!
Since this is coming from Fuji, we'll treat it as almost-news. Almost-news, since it is not a formal product announcement. We'll post more details if/when more is known from Fuji.
And for those speed-readers, I am inserting a speed-bump: this is a film SLR rangefinder with bellows, definitely not a digital camera!
For all the Fuji-priority posts in this blog, be sure to check the Fuji tag (23 posts so far).
More at Photo.net, Let's Go Digital (has nice pictures). Discussion of this in the dpreview News forum.
NEW!!! The PDN Pulse blog has exclusive pictures of the new Fuji RF. They also have a picture of the basic specs. The camera was shown behind glass at the PMA 2008 trade show.

What's film?
LOL :-)
I did a quick Google Search, and here's what I found:
Film seems to be a new technology, that replaces the monolithic fixed sensor in a camera, and instead allows the user to chose any "portable sensor" (aka film roll) they want to use.
This allows the user to chose a more custom "sensor" for their application. They have so many options out there, even b+w!
But because it's in early beta, the "film sensor" has a complicated workflow. They can only be used to take 24 to 36 pictures per "film sensor", and after the pictures are taken, they have to go through a complicated chemical process, and after that the "analog RAW files" have to be put through a scanner in order to be used o a computer.
I hope this helps ;-)
That was a great response. It cracked me up. LOL
I have such fun blogging with you... :-)
Thanks! I'm glad you found it entertaining :)
It's not an SLR
