New Olympus Stylus 840 in four delicious colors

We continue surfing the Olympus wave with another new Stylus model, this one having a 5x optical zoom lens, also found in the previous few iterations of the Stylus line, such as the 830.

Meet the Olympus Stylus 840

  • Features an 8mp 1/2.35" sensor
  • 5x optical zoom, sensor-shift stabilization, 36-180mm equivalent range
  • 24 scene modes! We were disappointed they did not include a LochNess monster mode. What if we suddenly see it emerging from the lake? How can we ensure we take a proper picture without a LochNess Monster scene mode? :)
  • No Tv, no Av, no manual exposure
  • 10 glorious seconds of 30fps video or half an hour of 15fps QVGA video
  • 2.7" LCD, no viewfinder
  • xD memory card support and microSD card support via supplied adapter (see bottom of the press release or search for microSD)
  • Uses LI-42B LiIon battery
  • The Olympus branded memory card panorama fiasco continues to showcase the petty stubborness of whoever are behind this decision!
  • Not announced in Japan
  • Pre-order: $250 (Amazon)
