Sony A200 First Impressions (preproduction) by e-photographia.com

We already mentioned the official announcement of the Sony A200. Now we have something new for those interested in the Sony A200: e-photographia has just posted their first impressions on the Sony A200, based on a pre-production model. They have plenty of pictures of the camera, a full size sample picture, and more pictures in their Test Shots forum (free registration required), including four full size 10mp pictures.

The Sony A200 has just been added in our DSLR Review Matrix since we have the first preview of it.

The Alpha A200 is available for pre-ordering from Amazon at the moment, $700 with the 18-70 DT lens and $900 with a two-lens kit (18-70 DT and 75-300). We did not locate a body only kit which is interesting.

depends on market - Europe has body only available, North America apparently not.

Thanks for the update! It certainly makes more sense to offer a body only version as well as the traditional kit lens version!

I don't know if we can read more into this, eg is there a camera that may be just above the A200 coming up (A300?) and that's why they are not making the A200 available in NA as body only?

This may also hint that the A200 may be targeted at the big retailer chains where the average consumer picks up a kit off the shelf.
