Tamron puts focus motor in AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1: 2 (Model A17N II) (Nikon mount)

According to Digitalcamera.jp , Tamron is issuing a new version of their AF 70-300 f4-5.6 Di LD Macro lens with a focus motor, to cave in to the limitations of the Nikon D40 and D40x.

More details from Tamron Japan. The lens will go on sale in Japan on February 1st, with a price of just under 50,000 yen when the tax is included. Both links are computer-translated. Websight means website - among many other things :)

The existing versions of this lens currently retail for about $135 to $150 at Amazon.com, depending on which mount you are looking at.
