Top sellers at Map camera in Japan (January 2008)

We have another installment of The Charts today, thanks to digitalcamera.jp posting the latest top sellers at Map Camera stores. Both links are computer translated. Please keep in mind that this is not representative of the whole Japanese market. Think of Map Camera as a shop catering to dpreview forum users, not the average consumer.

Ricoh owns the top two spots, with the new GRD II taking the top spot, and the GX 100 with the optional VF kit taking the #2 spot.

The Panasonic LX2 continues to be popular, as it has the #3 spot, while the Nikon D300 is the top selling DSLR. The 18x superzoom FZ18 rounds up the top 5. Check the links above for the complete top ten.

Also listed are the top 20 used cameras sold, and there we find a combination of new and older cameras, the top spots are occupied by DSLRs darlings such as the D200, 40D, D80, K10D. The top non-dSLR is the Ricoh GRD I, followed by the original GINO, the Powershot G9. The biggest surprises in our opinion? The Nikon D2X at #14 and the Coolpix S10 at #18.
