Top Sellers at Calumet Photo (The Charts)

Welcome to another edition of the Charts. In today's installment we feature Calumet for the first time. We present the top five sellers at Calumet Photo. The ranking is available in the Calumet email newsletter. We do not know exactly what time period it is tracking, but it is posted in every edition of their newsletter. Also be sure to check the bottom of this post for a $15 off $100+ limited time special offer from Calumet Photo.

The Top Selling DSLRs at Calumet Photo
1.Nikon D300 body onlyWell well well, not that that's a surprise! The D300 has been generating a lot of buzz, along with the Nikon D3 (recently reviewed by the dpreview power duo)
2.Canon 40D body onlyAlmost half the price of the D300 is more than enough to get it long hard looks by people who want a powerful DSLR but don't want to drain the purchasing power of their bank accounts. That, and the Canon-vs-Nikon preference of course since you need lenses too. The 40D price continues to get close to the psychological barrier of $1000. 40D's closer CaNikon competitors are the D-Rebel XSi (450D) and the Nikon D80.
3.Nikon D80 body onlySpeaking of which, here it is, Nikon's reliable "affordable" post-entry-level DSLR. There is a gap in the Nikon DSLR line-up, and that gap favors the D80 price-wise. There are of course rumors of something new at Photokina 2008, be it a D90 or a D80x.
4.Canon 5D body onlyFor fans of 35mm full frame the 5D is the most affordable option at the moment, flirting with the psychological barrier of $2000. There are plenty of rumors for a 5D Mark II to be announced at/by Photokina 2008, but you can't take pictures with a rumor :) It may be getting "old" in digital camera terms, not that that stops it from working.
5.Canon D-Rebel XTi (400D) kitRebel Rebel, your price is not a mess! Infact the XTi is one of the best bang for the buck DSLRs out there. Which may have a strange ring to it considering a couple of years ago all Canon DSLRs had a premium to them compared to the competition. But apparently the competition caught up with Canon, and Canon had to adjust prices in order to defend market share. And we've already seen Nikon beating Canon in Japan for 2007, while Canon managed to squeak by Nikon worldwide for 2007.

Top Five Lenses
1. Canon 24-70mm (over $1100)
2. Canon 70-200mm ($1700 or so)
3. Canon 50mm f/1.8 (under $100)
4. Nikon 18-200mm DX VR (under $700)
5. Canon 28-135mm (around $400)

Top Five memory cards

2. SanDisk Ultra 2GB CF
3. SanDisk III 2GB SD
4. ProSpec 2GB 305x CF
