Discover new sites and blogs (Web 2.0 fortified edition)

In this recurring feature, we feature websites and blogs that are new to us or new to you. The websites themselves may be ten days old or ten years old. This is a Web 2.0 fortified edition, so at the end of each paragraph you will see a Web 2.0 choice for each blog. If you are not interested in Web 2.0, just ignore it :)

While reading this interesting story about choosing a blog service for your photo blog at DPS (Digital Photography Schools), we "discovered" the blog of the author, Pics and Kicks by Natalie Norton. This is a photo-blog, with lots and lots of pictures, and personal commentary by the photographer. Web 2.0 choice: del.ic.ious.

Okay, buying a digital camera is wonderful, but do you actually use it on a daily basis? Some people do, some people don't (oh secret DMB reference here?). We know that one Panasonic LX2 is being put to use on a daily basis. The proof? We will spare you the pudding reference. Although we just did by saying we will not. Meet the LX2, taking it one day at a time photo-blog. Web 2.0 choice: Photography Voter.

No Web 2.0 here, but an old-school Web 1.0 website, celebrating the work of Galen and Barbara Rowell. And it's only fitting that it is called Mountain Light. Web 2.0 choice: Stumble Upon.

Think RSS feeds are too time-consuming to manage and go through? What if there was some middle ground? Well, you can thank legendary ex-Apple persona Guy Kawasaki for his new site, AllTop. One of the topics included is photography. The site features wall-to-wall headlines powered by the RSS feeds of various photography sites and blogs. Meet the Photography headlines at All Top. Web 2.0 choice: Mixx it up!

We "discovered" the next forum while reading the Serious Compacts blog [name/url now corrected] and their on-going Sigma DP1 shootout. And here is a riddle before we reveal it: "Small is big in this particular forum". Stop reading if you want to take a guess. Stop reading speed-readers! Okay, now we are ready to reveal, it is the Small Sensor Cameras forum at GetDPI.com. Of course there's a whole lot more stuff at GetDPI, but we are spotlighting the Small Sensor cameras forum in this instance. Web 2.0 choice: Digg it?

Want more? Be sure to check the previous installments of "Discover New Sites and Blogs". There's about a dozen "episodes" so far.

Hi 1001!, I think you meant Serious Compacts rather than Super Compacts, unless they also are having an ongoing DP1 shootout and featured the GetDPI Small Sensor forum =). Thanks for keeping us on your radar! Best regards, Amin

Thanks! Now corrected! The side-effects from the new REM song/album! How about "Supernatural SuperSerious Compacts"? :)

Might make for a long url, but it'll be a good site nickname =).

And a lot easier to mistype :)
