How does a blog post generate 3700+ comments in 11 hours?

How can a photography blog post generate 3700 comments in a matter of just 11 hours? An average of about 340 comments per hour, or about 6 comments per minute? And this happened between 11pm and 10am! And believe it or not, it had nothing to do with the Nikon D3X or D10 or D90 or Canon 5D Mark II or 3D or 7D.

Instead it was a very ...pioneering move at Pioneer Woman Photography. Blog readers were invited to make suggestions on what content and stories they wanted to see in the blog. Good idea for sure. What turned a good idea into a brilliant idea was the carrot. And the carrot was a $500 B&H Photo gift card awarded at random to one of the readers who left a suggestion.

Pioneer Woman Photography is a great blog that features reader-friendly photography tips and tutorials, and has lots of photos too.

Of course, she destroyed that number with her give-away for a D80.

Her blog is very, very good read.
