New Pentax Gear Up Rebate Program (Pentax USA)

The Rebate Wars are taking off! First it was Canon's Instant Rebates, now the Pentaxians strike back with their own rebates. The Pentax Gear Up offer comprises of stackable mail-in rebates that follow the philosophy of "buy more to save more". Ideal bait for gearoholics, and people suffering from GAS and LBA :)

The Pentax program runs from May 22nd to July 26, 2008. Details from Pentax USA itself, including a downloadable PDF rebate form (direct link to the PDF file). Be sure to read all the terms and conditions of this rebate program. Among other things the form says "Lenses, flashes and battery grips must be purchased at the same time on the same receipt as a K20D or K200D". In other words, prepare for a shopping spree :)

Reactions to the rebates
The Pentaxians in the dpreview forums are discussing the rebates and so they do at PentaxForums.com.

Idea: The Biggest Bang for the Buck Bundle
If you are the thrifty kind of buyer and you want to get the best bang out of your buck, you may look into this combo. This gets you a $275 combined purchase rebate ($100 for body, $100 for lens, $50 for flash, $25 for grip) and essentially covers the price of the flash and the grip. It's like you buy the body and lens, and get the flash and grip for free after you submit and receive the rebate.

Please note that many sellers sell on Amazon. You have to buy all items from the same seller on the same receipt! For example if you decide to buy four items, you have to get all four items sold and shipped by Amazon, or all four sold and shipped by Cameta, or all four sold and shipped by J&R World, etc, etc, etc.

Idea: The Power User - the best of what's available
This will get you the max $375 rebate with five items and essentially almost (about $60 short) covers the price of the flash and grip. If you go for the lower priced flash (AF340FGZ), then the $375 rebate covers both their prices, and also offsets a small portion of the lens/body price.
