Weekend Shopper: Adorama, J&R World and friends

It's the return of the Weekend Shopper, now that we have a break in the Photokina action. [permalink]

We start with Adorama, where their dog days of summer sale includes two "older" Pentax Optios at a nice discount: the water-friendly predecessor of the new W60, the silver Optio W30 is offered for $225 with free shipping. This has a 7mp 1/2.5" sensor, and a 3x optical zoom lens, along with a 2.5" LCD... The other Optio is the 10mp A30, going for $140 with free shipping as well.

On the rechargeable AA battery front, the Sony multi-volt charger + 4 2100mah are going for $14 but no free shipping.

And if you are scared by the new 15-megapixel cameras, it's time to load up on memory cards ;-) How about the 8gb Sandisk SDHC, class 6, model SDSDB8192A11, going for $38 plus shipping.

Now we move to J&R World, where we find the Nikon 18-200mm DX VR lens on sale for $650. Zoom! Zoom! When mounted on a DX/APS-C DSLR, this roughly has the "equivalency" of 28-300mm. Give or take a few fractions.

Memory chips are getting cheaper than potato chips these days! Case in point, a 2gb Kingston SD memory card is on sale for just $8. That's about $4 per gigabyte, cheaper than gas ;-)

Please note that the Adorama sale prices are good for a week, while the J&R prices are good for the weekend only. Assuming of course the items don't run out of stock.

And for those looking for affordable/clearance computer accessoralia, Tigerdirect has exclusive limited time offers, which include a $6 Case Logic small camera case, tech cleaning supplies, cheap mice, and things like that.

It seems to be floating around $700 for the kit, which changes the dynamics of potential XTi 400D and 40D purchases.
